Help Bring Google High-Speed Internet to Springfield!

Local officials, residents and organizations from Springfield are joining together in a collective effort to ask that Google Inc., select the City as one of its national test communities for its new ultra-high speed, fiber-optic network.

If selected in the nationwide competition, Google would install the new network in Springfield and offer ultra-high speed Internet access to homes and businesses.

The project would be a tremendous economic development engine for our area and will deliver Internet speeds of more than 1-gigabit per second – up to 100 times faster than what most Americans have access to today.

The City has been soliciting letters of support from its community. Letters have already been received, with more coming in every day. Due to the amount of high-quality competition, the City is encouraging its residents and local organizations to support the City's initiative by nominating Springfield as a test location online.

To nominate the City, login to Google’s site at
www.google.com/appserve/fiberrfi/public/options.

**The completed application, including letters of support and nominations, must be submitted no later than Friday, March 26, 2010 **
